    Beau's lines plaquenil

It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and others. Malaria is spread by mosquitoes, which transmit the parasites that cause the infection, usually in tropical and subtropical parts of the world.

Jan 05, 2011 Beau’s lines are a result of a variety of conditions, ranging from minor to severe. The most common causes are local injury or exposure to severe cold, both of which decrease the blood flow to the nail matrix. How is drug-induced nail disease diagnosed? The diagnosis of drug-induced nail disease is made by taking a careful history and by a thorough clinical examination. Nail scrapings and clippings can be taken for mycology to exclude fungal infection. A skin biopsy can show characteristic features but risks causing permanent scarring and nail deformity. Beau’s lines causes. Beau’s lines can be caused by trauma or local disease involving the nail fold. Conditions associated with Beau’s lines include uncontrolled diabetes and peripheral vascular disease, as well as illnesses associated with a high fever, such as scarlet fever, measles, mumps and pneumonia.

For example, it may be combined with an antibiotic to treat chronic Q-fever, which humans usually catch from farm animals or raw milk. Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too.

  5. Beau's lines These are transverse depressions in the nail plate that occur after a stressful event that temporarily interrupts nail formation. They appear first at the cuticle and move distally with nail growth. Beau's lines are more apparent on thumb and great toe nails. They have a margin parallel to the lunula, when caused by a systemic disease.

You may be referring to Beau's lines, which are grooves that run horizontally across the nail plate. They usually develop when nail plate growth, which begins in the nail matrix located under the cuticle, is temporarily disrupted. Beau’s lines will eventually grow out on their own, meaning there is no need for treatment of the lines. However, it is strongly recommended that you visit a doctor if you have Beau’s lines, as they may signify a serious underlying medical condition like the illnesses listed above. Beau’s lines are strictly horizontal in appearance with ridges that you can feel from your nails. Additionally, Beau’s lines also shouldn’t be confused with a condition known as Muehrcke’s lines, which shows grooves that form under your nails and cannot be felt externally or physically. So, what are the causes of Beau’s lines?
