Running fevers since going off plaquenil

So far I have no more energy than when I first started and has developed neuropathy which I have just found out from Web MD that this neuropathy is one of the side effects of this med! Saying that by stopping this it would take another 6 months to build up the benefit. There are other meds that can help with what you are experiencing, and if your doctor didn't address that then I would seek out a second opinion... Please don't stop your plaquenil until you are sure it is the right thing to do and in your best interest.

Does anyone know if you have to be weaned off Plaquenil? I've been on it for 15 years, for Lupus? If you're gonna experiment, I went off it cold turkey as it didn't hurt to do it that way, but you better get back on before the summer or you could experience a flare-up. Plaquenil and other antimalarials are the key to controlling lupus long-term, and some lupus patients may be on Plaquenil for the rest of their lives. For this reason, you can think of antimalarials as a sort of “lupus life insurance.”

  5. It works well on the more systemic side effects of RA e.g. pericarditis, pleuritis, fevers, etc. which is why Plaq is also used with lupus patients. I've been on it for about 2 1/2 years now, and won't stop unless I have to since it works well for me, it's cheap, easy to take oral tablet only twice a day, and I'm past the worst of the side.
