    Plaquenil makes my body ache

It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and others. Malaria is spread by mosquitoes, which transmit the parasites that cause the infection, usually in tropical and subtropical parts of the world.

Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is considered a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug DMARD. It can decrease the pain and swelling of arthritis. It may prevent joint damage and reduce the risk of long-term disability. Hydroxychloroquine is in a class of medications that was first used to prevent and treat malaria. Hydroxychloroquine oral tablet is available as a brand-name drug and a generic drug. Brand name Plaquenil. Hydroxychloroquine comes only as a tablet you take by mouth. Hydroxychloroquine is used to treat malaria, lupus erythematosus, and rheumatoid arthritis. Every crease in my body like behind knees and elbows hurt like a sunburn. My skin is peeling with scabs. I started having a rash and hives on my upper body about a week after starting Plaquenil but I thought it had to do also with a prednisone pack I had been on. I then started to get redness all over my body which was hot to touch on Thanksgiving.

For example, it may be combined with an antibiotic to treat chronic Q-fever, which humans usually catch from farm animals or raw milk. Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too.

Jul 18, 2008 I have been on 400 mg daily of Plaquenil, last week my doctor took me off of it ue to increase in the pain I had been having in lower back and unbelievable pain in my left leg and especially the extreme pain in the heel of my left foot. It was becoming painful to walk. After 5 days of stopping pain was 80% better.

    • Is extreme fatigue a side effect of Plaquenil?.

Jan 22, 2020 It causes pain in the joints and muscles of the lower back, thighs, hips, neck, shoulder and upper arms, and other parts of the body. The condition occurs when the lining surrounding the joints, bursa and tendons near the shoulders and hips becomes inflamed. The disease is centered on the joints especially the shoulders and hips. I notice a difference in my fatigue and joint pain. I think even though they say it doesn't make a difference, I feel wierd if I don't take my plaquenil sometimes. Almost as if there is a little withdraw going on. I feel sluggish and more nauseated. Sometimes Plaquenil can also deposit in the tissues of the body and cause the skin to take on a greenish tone. Dry skin; Loss of appetite; Abdominal bloating; Upset stomach; Stomach cramps; Retinal damage – There is a small chance that retinal damage will occur while taking hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil or chloroquine Aralen.
