Jul 08, 2019 A macular pucker is scar tissue that has formed on the eye’s macula, located in the center of the light-sensitive tissue called the retina. The macula provides the sharp, central vision we need for reading, driving, and seeing fine detail. A macular pucker can cause blurred and distorted central vision. This film can also contract like scar tissue, which can pull on the delicate retina at the back of your eye. This in turn causes ‘puckering’ of the macula, which can distort your vision and can also cause the retina to swell so it doesn’t work as well. This condition is known as a ‘macular pucker’. This allows the wrinkle to flatten the macula, returning it to its proper position and orientation. Improvement in vision can take several months and despite surgery, your sight may not be quite as good as it was before macular. Macular pucker is a name given to a condition in which scar tissue grows in appropriately over the surface of the macula. This same condition has been called cellophane retinopathy, macular wrinkle, and epiretinal membrane.

My doctor started me on plaquenil in combination with minocycline for my first round of treatment. I thought I had Levaquin, but I just had a look in my medicin box and it wasn't Levaquin, but Plaquenil (I think at some point my dr must have mentionned Levaquin, hence the confusion - and my bad memory played its role too).
