    Can you just stop taking plaquenil or do you have to wean off. Aug 27, 2010 Plaquenil is one of those meds you can just stop. My rheumy told me to take a months rest from it once. I asked him about 'tapering' and he said "No - just stop it - and resume after a month."

    What happens if I stop taking plaquenil.
